Research methodology and documentation

This course is designed to provide a general introduction to how present ourselves in terms of our writings or presentations: either orally, written or both. This class covers the methods on how to conduct research and document it, write scientific and official writings of a variety of sorts for different applications and best ways to present our work and maybe ourselves more effectively and properly. The application of the learning gained through this course is broad and undeniable including but not limited to writing papers and technical reports, scientific reports, university applications, job applications and several kinds of statements, etc.  Students are to conduct, under my supervision, their own class or group projects and practice, culminating in developing scientific/official or technical documents. Lectures will be given on a selection of topics that can prove useful in doing research, writing, presenting and authoring. We will consider a range of methods and proven formats through examples and class/homework. We will also consider the ethics of conduct of research. It is hoped that by the end of the course, you will have sufficient competence (a) to design and carry out your own research, (b) to write scientific and official documents, (c) to critically assess the research of others, and (d) more importantly to be a more intelligent student to present yourself better.
